Tambrahm Wedding, The Tamarind Tree: A Colourful Tamil Brahmin Wedding With All Rituals In Bangalore

Marriage is not just between the two partners. It also links the families and their cultures together.

When the families are from varied backgrounds such as Anisha and Santosh's, the wedding ceremonies and rituals become a beautiful amalgamation of both the Malayali and Tambrahm cultures.

The wedding of Anisha, a Malayali, with Santosh, a Tamil Brahmin, is a great example of how beautifully two cultures can come together to create a unique and elegant wedding ceremony. Here is a look at the two-day wedding of these two gorgeous lovebirds with complete photography of the events.

Day 1 - Welcoming The Groom

The two-day wedding festivities started by welcoming the groom into the bride's family. Anisha's brother washed Santosh's feet, and her parents welcomed him by placing a garland and a traditional sandalwood tika on Santosh. The women in Anisha's family donned the traditional Kerala Kasavu saree and showered rose petals and rose water on Santosh and his family to welcome them.

Anisha chose to stay close to her roots and chose a traditional Kerala Kasavu saree with a red blouse. Anisha and Santosh looked star-struck as they met each other with wide smiles.

Anisha's cousins showcased their Bharatnatyam skills to the awe of Santosh's family. Her aunts and cousins also put on a show of the traditional Thivathira Kali. The women dance in a circle with lamps placed in the centre of the circle for the Thiruvathira Kali or Kaikotti Kali. The women seek the blessings of Lord Shiva for marital bliss via the dance. The evening progressed as both families mingled and got to know each other better.

Day 2 - Tamil Brahmin Wedding

The second day of the wedding festivities stayed true to Santosh's TamBrahm side with all the Tamil Brahmin rituals. The bride and groom sought the blessings of Gods with a puja with their respective fathers. Santosh's family then gifted a saree to Anisha, which she had to wear for the next Tamil Brahmin wedding rituals.

As Anisha left to change into the resplendent pastel blue Kanjivaram saree given by Santosh, Santosh got ready for the Kashi Yatra. Anisha's parents had to convince him to come back and marry their daughter. The fun-filled ceremony is common in all Tamil Brahmin weddings.

After the Kashi Yatra, the bride and the groom were lifted up by their cousins and friends. The cousins and friends moved Anisha and Santosh away as they try to garland each other leading to much laughter and fun.

Anisha and Santosh then held hands and proceeded to the Oonjal. As they sat on the Oonjal or wooden swing, their mothers did the Aarti. The women sang traditional songs to celebrate the sacred bond of marriage. Anisha and Santosh were then offered banana dipped in milk.

The bride's parents then washed the groom's feet and applied sandalwood paste. The groom gave the Madisar or the traditional Tamil Brahmin saree to Anisha. Anisha changed into the elegant orange and purple Madisar for the remaining TamBrahm rituals.

Anisha sat on her father's lap as he performed the Kannigadhanam, where he handed over his daughter to Santosh. This was followed by the Mangalyadharanam or Thali ceremony. Santosh tied the Thali around Anisha's neck. Emotions were clearly running high with this ceremony as Anisha and Santosh's mothers shed tears of joy. The couple then performed puja to seek the blessings of Gods for their marriage.

Once all the rituals were over, it is time for the Vilayadal or games. Anisha and Santosh rolled a coconut between each other, sang songs and broke papads on each other's head. The whole family took part by pulling their legs and making fun of them, all leading to a gala time!

The Venue - The Tamarind Tree, Banglore

The Tamarind Tree is a gorgeous venue that complements the beauty of the wedding festivities. The heritage location offers plenty of opportunities to take stunning pictures that showcase the beauty of Indian culture and handicrafts. The pond surrounded by the temple steps and the bandstand become the venue for most of the wedding rituals for Anisha and Santosh. The Tamarind Tree is a truly stunning location with a lot to offer for couples looking to tie the knot.

As the graceful and elegant wedding of Anisha and Santosh comes to a close, the couple and the family can look back with joy at the Malayali and Tamil Brahmin rituals that blended together beautifully to create this unique wedding experience.

Day 1 - The Cocktail Bash

With joyful faces, carefree dancing and thrilling energy, this ravishing cocktail party was a blast. While Karneet looked debonair in a black tux, Nikita slayed in a shimmering black attire.

The bride and groom danced their hearts out with scintillating moves. To top it all, the bride's grandma stole the show as she danced on the Punjabi Dhol Tasha.

Day 2 - Mehendi By The Pool

The Mehendi ceremony was filled with dance, music and lots of drinks. The ceremony was held at poolside in the Leela Palace. The bride and groom looked feisty as they colour coordinated in peacock blue and pepped up the wedding photography.

With colourful decor and the poolside ambience, everyone looked stunning, donning bold colours. The ceremony was all fun and frolic as the guests enjoyed putting Henna and posing with the happy bride.

Day 3 - The Engagement Day

The engagement venue was Karneet's farmhouse. The scenic and captivating view complemented well with the floral rose-and-lily décor. Nikita and Karneet were gleaming with joy as they entered holding hands amidst the natural lush greenery all around the place.

Karneet went down to his knees and proposed to his childhood love, and we were all in awe. It was heart-warming for us to see the family's joy when the couple exchanged their rings. The fun continued when the groom and his squad rocked the stage with their desi moves.

Nikita’s dear father made his daughter's day a little more special by singing Pehla Nasha for the lovely couple. The entire crowd swayed their arms , grooving to the lovely song.

Karneet and Nikita took a vibrant pre-wedding couple photo-shoot amidst the green farms and clear blue sky, wearing pastels with a wide, warm smile.

Day 4 - The Wedding Vows

The wedding day began with the Punjabi Chooda ceremony where Nikita's uncle put Red Chooda in her hands as a symbol of luck and goodness for her new beginnings. We captured some delightful close-knit moments that the family enjoyed together before the grand Indian wedding photography.

The bride rejoiced as she posed for the camera at her Haldi ceremony. Her family made sure to pamper and tease the lovely bride. As the Haldi ceremony ended, it was time to doll up for the D-day!

The extravagant wedding was nothing short of a royal affair. Prince Karneet came in a vintage car to be wedded to Princess Nikita. The Baraatis were auspiciously welcomed by the bride's tribe who sprinkled rose petals on their path as they walked in.

Nikita's mom did the cute Marwari tradition of Naak-Khichai by pulling Karneet's nose. The bride felt happy and blessed to be married by the same Panditji who got her parents married too.

The wedding rituals were amusing to capture as a singer sang songs for every ritual while explaining its importance. The bride's family tried to not cry at the Bidaai and wore a warm smile during the sendoff.

We had an amazing time shooting this beautiful wedding of Nikita & Karneet and you can scroll down to see some of our favourite pictures from the 4 days celebrations :)

The first thing you notice is the Mehendi - the pretty floral jewellery, the origami flowers, the pink silk tassels and the sheer drapes. Matched with the Mehendi decor was the bride’s pastel and lemon yellow Anushree Reddy Lehenga. When it was time for the vows and pheras, we couldn’t help but gasp at the delicate Sabyasachi bridal sari, made of Kanjeevaram silk. With gorgeous diamond jewellery the bride looked like royalty. The mandap was bang in the middle of the woods under a canopy of greenery decorated with white flowers

When it was time for the vows and pheras, we couldn’t help but gasp at the delicate Sabyasachi bridal sari, made of Kanjeevaram silk. With gorgeous diamond jewellery the bride looked like royalty. The mandap was bang in the middle of the woods under a canopy of greenery decorated with white flowers.

Our favourite part was of course, the Reception that was styled to be a three-in-one soiree - a Sangeet, a Cocktails Event and a Reception. While the bride sashayed in a moss green Sabyasachi Lehenga dress with a pop of red lipstick, it was the groom who stunned everyone with his simple, yet refined suit. The stage was a veil of white and it looked so very picturesque.

The Love Brew!

The warmth of their love was perfectly sensed in their pre-wedding photoshoot, shot amidst the tea gardens of Darjeeling and the sleepy bylanes of their hometown, Siliguri.

Even as they strolled through the iconic landmarks, it was their love for each other that shone all through. The essence of their love overflowed their heart and soul and the same has been caught by our cameras.

Mehendi In A Mela

The Marwari wedding nuptials kicked off with a bang. The madness of the Mehendi function was rightly capsuled in the mela theme. The vivid colours, the whiff of henna-laden hands, mouth-watering delicacies, upbeat music by a live band, and dancing pairs of feet, made for the perfect sensorial experience, the essence of which is explicit in the wedding photography.

The carnival-themed Mehendi had everyone up on their feet with its varied entertainment. Game stalls, tattoo artists, kites, balloons, and pinwheels took everyone back to their carefree childhood days.

We were ecstatic to capture the couple entering in style, on a chariot with everyone cheering out loud for them.

The Haute Haldi

The Haldi ceremony further spiced up the celebrations with just the perfect mix of the Marwari wedding traditions with fun and frolic. While Monika looked resplendent as she colour coordinated her outfit with her girl-gang, Aman was no less debonair. A venue decked up in vibrant marigold garlands and quirky decor pieces made for a photographer's delight.

And of course, for fun group shots with friends and family too!

Aman's family chose to conclude the Haldi ceremony with Myra.

Aman looked every bit of the dapper man that he is in the smart Pathani that he wore. The happy faces of both the families, beaming with joy and happiness as they blessed the couple was an absolute treat for our lenses.

The Sangeet Soiree

The sangeet evening was another grand affair to remember and cherish for long. The place was throbbing with energy and vitality which has been captured in the candid shots.

Following this, the entire family put together a series of stunning dance performances to celebrate the occasion. The glimmering lights, the energetic moves and the burst of colours have added a zing to the wedding photography. The couple rocked the dance floor with their jaw-dropping moves as everyone in the audience watched them in a trance.

The Boisterous Bachelorette

Nothing spells more fun than an evening filled with music and dance. Add to this a group of crazy friends who after guzzling down bottles of champagne, come up with crazier moves, and you have the perfect cocktail of celebration!

Monika ruled the party as she channelled her inner diva in a shimmering metallic outfit and Aman wore the snazziest tux. The couple bade adieu to their bachelorhood as their search for a soulmate steered them towards finding the perfect #AManforMonika.

The Wedding Vows

The coy bride, Monika, left us stunned with her beauty glistening through the veil. Aman was a charming royal prince straight out of a fairy-tale. The couple's grand entry amidst lighted fireworks made for a spectacular moment for us to capture.

Kathakali dancers gracefully swaying to rhythmic beats amid lighted diyas added to the glamour and glint.

Precious moments, like those of sindur daan, perfectly captured the ethos and the feelings.

It is said that a picture speaks a thousand words, but when you have pictures that express a thousand emotions, you have the moments and memories made eternal.
